Chip Patat - Board Chairman
Served 1 year as Board Member and is a life long resident of Greer. Chip is married to Jane Pruitt Patat and have two children, Carla, & Ben & wife Kyndal. He also has one grandchild, named Bear. He is retired, but he Owned & operated Patat Automotive LLC in Greer for 40 years. He is a Partner & elder at Freedom Fellowship.
Martha Bennett - Executive Director
My name is Martha Littlefield Bennett, I am the widow of the late James “Jim” Edward Bennett, and we have a wonderful daughter Chelsea Elizabeth and 2 grandsons. I was born in Greenville, South Carolina and moved to Miami. Moving back to Greer my senior year of high school, I am a proud graduate of Greer High School. I have lived in Greer, 34 years, where I have been active at Greer High School, Greer Community Ministries and Praise Cathedral. I am a member of the Greer Lions Club and Leadership Development Council. I was a member of the Greer Chamber Leadership Class #39.
I studied Interior Design at Winthrop University. My love for design and working with people started there. Later leading mother and I to start Chelsea's Catering over 30 years ago. My love of God, people and food connected me with the soup kitchen. We would connect with Mr. Merle and give him left overs from weddings and other events we catered. I have been the Director of the Daily Bread Ministries/Greer Soup Kitchen for 13 years. We are here to serve, so always remember to be God’s Hands and Feet wherever you go.
Beth Roberts - Director of STEP
I was born and raised in Greer, graduating from Greer High School in 1974. I obtained my BS degree in Psychology from the University of South Carolina in 1978 and attended graduate school at USC in statistics and research design. After getting married in 1983, we moved to St. Petersburg, Florida, where I spent 26 years working for Goodwill Industries-Suncoast, Inc., providing services to persons with all types of disabilities and disadvantages, with the majority of my years in rehabilitation management. I also provided extensive training in all aspects of rehabilitation and mental health services,
I was married for 30 years and sadly lost my husband in early 2018. We have 2 children - Lindsay and Mike. Lindsay moved to South Carolina in 2018, while Mike still resides in Florida with his wife and 2 children. I currently reside with my mother as her caretaker, in the home where I grew up. I have been the Director of the STEP program (the Greer Family Shelter) since January of 2018, providing intensive training to families who have experienced transitional homelessness.
Chris Farinella - Board Member
Retired, married to Carol Herron, 3 children and 3 grandchildren.
Born and raised in Pittsburgh, PA. BS in finance from Indiana University of Pennsylvania. Have been a resident of Greer, SC for the last 13 years. 40 years of retail management experience with May departments stores and Belk. Currently on HOA boards for Thornblade and Spring Crossing neighborhoods. Active member of St. Mary Magdalene Church for the last 10 years. I have been a volunteer at the Greer soup kitchen for over a year.
April Breton - Board Member
April has spent her entire professional career of 30 years in Real Estate and Property Management. Originally from Greensboro, NC, April returned to Greenville SC to raise her daughter and continue to build, own and operate full service real estate companies specializing in property management. In 2013, April was awarded Woman of the Year for Greenville’s Leukemia and Lymphoma Society Fundraiser. She currently is on the Board of the Greer Soup Kitchen, a facilitator of Greer Steps program (providing housing for the homeless) and volunteers weekly at her church, Covenant United Methodist Church. April is passionate about her faith, family and her business finding satisfaction in helping others achieve their goals and dreams.
Amy Cook - Board Member
My name is Amy Cook and I have lived in South Carolina for the last 23 years with my husband and two children. I have been actively involved at the Soup Kitchen for the last 2 1/2 years but I have also done various fundraisers for them through the school system since 2013.
I have a degree in medical lab technology and previously worked in the Hematology lab at Prisma Health. I have worked on various PTO boards at the local elementary schools while my children attended but now spend my time building a baking business and volunteering at the Greer Soup Kitchen.
Karen Murphy - Board Member
My husband Don and I moved to the Greer area in 2015. We have 3 grown daughters, one in Tennessee and two in Colorado, and two grandchildren.
I graduated from Western Carolina University with a BSBA Computer Information Systems. For over five years I owned and operated a small business and previously worked for a non-profit camp and conference center. Now I have my dream job: full-time wife, mother, homemaker and volunteer.
I am blessed to be a part of Daily Bread Ministries as a Greer Soup Kitchen volunteer as well as a Board member. In addition, I volunteer in my community, at my church, and at the Woodruff Area Soup Kitchen as a head cook.
