About Daily Bread Ministries
Our Mission
The mission of Daily Bread Ministries is to feed the hungry by providing one hot nutritious meal a day to whoever comes and to help end homelessness in the Greer community.
The Greer Soup Kitchen, a part of Daily Bread Ministries, is a non-profit, charitable organization that was founded in 1990 when concerned citizens observed that people in their own town were going hungry. One meal was served on our first day. Today over one hundred and fifty meals per day are served in a modern restaurant-style facility.
We rely completely upon donations of food and money from private citizens, churches and businesses to operate and utilize food donated by churches, restaurants, grocery stores, schools and individuals.

Our kitchen is staffed with about one hundred twenty five volunteers each week, representing businesses, individuals and over fifty area churches of all denominations.
Greer Shelter to Empower People (STEP) the Greer Family Shelter provides early intervention to enable families to move from being homeless to employed-with-home. The facility provides four separate apartments for participants and meeting space for a 90-day program conducted by trained counselors working under a licensed mental health professional.
To enter the program, families must be homeless, have a strong desire to not be homeless, and be recommended by an appointed commission. Successful participants will be equipped to retain a home.
